I am distressed that Hounslow PCT removed me from my doctor's list and asked my doctor to send my health records back to the central store.

As I understand it, the NHS provides for patients to be registered with a GP until such a time as they reregister somewhere else, move abroad or die, it is not my responsibility to continually justify my registration with my GP.

I gather that Hounslow PCT claims they had the shared services unit based in Ealing write to me twice to ask me to confirm that I wished to remain registered with my GP.

In fact I did not receive any letter to this effect and the first I knew of my removal was when I attempted to obtain treatment at my GP surgery.

I have asked to fill out a form to reregister so that my doctor can get my health records back. I gather this process can take weeks to complete.

I would be grateful if pressure could be put on Hounslow PCT to prevent this misfortune happening to other patients and those responsible for the policy could be made aware of the distress they are causing.

Their policy is very demoralising for staff and doctors at my GP surgery.
