SWEET artistes from Harrow celebrated winning nine medals between them at a prestigious international sugar design awards.

Nine students who attend porcelain and sugar flower workshop classes at Harrow College picked up three gold, three silver and three bronze awards at Le Salon Culinaire International awards at the Excel centre, Docklands.

They entered their sugarcraft works with tutor Ulla Netzband, who said: “This is a most prestigious awards event, recognising sugarcraft, with competitors from all over the world.

“I am very proud of the students’ achievements, they are being rewarded for their very hard work.”

Cris Muldoon, who won two gold medals, for her pastillage mask and floral sugarcraft, said: “I am excited to win two golds, it was totally unexpected.

“Our teacher is very knowledgeable and has encouraged me.

“I will definitely be coming back to classes.”

Other winners were Claudette Wadood, David Duque, Leila Middleton, Suriya Beesley and Ulla Netzband.
