MOTHERS who need support are invited to an informal group.

Mother’s Connect is a new charity set up by pastor Mrs Benedicta Olagunju of the Focus International Christian Centre at 123 Uxbridge Road in Hillingdon and offers help to those families dealing with the pressures of parenting.

On Saturday the charity is holding its second open morning to mark International Women’s Day.

The open forum will offer mothers facing challenges with parenting the opportunity to ask questions and talk to others who have gone through the same things, and share advice.

“Mothers Connect aims to provide general support to families facing the challenges of parenting,” said event organiser Annette Dhannie.

“We also aim to support young people within our community in order to promote a more cohesive environment when they can thrive and look forward to a positive future.”

While affiliated to the church, they are a non-denominational organisation.

“We do not discriminate against anyone, we just want to do something that will make Hillingdon a safer place to live in and to enhance the quality of life of residents in the borough. We mentor mothers and youths and assist them in overcoming the obstacles they encounter in life,” added Ms Dhannie.

The event is at Focus House, 123 Uxbridge Road, Hillingdon and runsfrom 9-11am. People can drop in at any time.

The sessions are held once every three months. However, one on one counselling sessions are available on request by contacting Mothers Connect by phone or by email.

If you cannot make the event but would like support, call 07886 859522 or 07951 408581 at any time or email mothersconnect@yahoo.com.

Last week, Harrow Women's centre was saved from closure thanks to a lottery grant.
