If you know anyone who has made an impression on the local community, from kindly neighbours or caring relatives, to committed fundraisers or courageous citizens - why not nominate them as a Local Hero?
Local Heroes do not have to have hit the headlines. In fact, many will have quietly made a difference to their community over a period of time.
This week a headteacher is featured after being nominated by a local resident for transforming a school.
Lynn Gadd, principal of Harefield Academy in Northwood Way, has been put forward by Wendy Rice-Morley of Sanctuary Close, Harefield, who is also a governor at the school.
Mrs Rice-Morley wrote: "I want to nominate Mrs Gadd for working tirelessly with the students and the community in general to create a very happy, integrated society.
"Mrs Gadd has transformed the old John Penrose school into a very successful up and coming state of the art academy. She has worked all hours to get it right and ensured the recent transition to the new building was successful.
"The village as a whole will benefit enormously from the new school with things like evening classes and swimming clubs.
"Mrs Gadd should be recognised for a great job well done and for total dedication to the academy and the community."
