It may not seem like the brightest idea with the nights drawing in but Heathland School hopes to reap the rewards of installing two solar panels.
The secondary school in Wellington Road South, Hounslow, is one of the first in the country to receive the panels from energy provider E.ON.
They will allow the school to generate its own power, lowering its carbon footprint by up to 500kg a year.
Stan Labovitch, Heathland's head of curriculum enrichment, said: "This installation will not only help us reduce our carbon emissions but also provides our students with an opportunity to learn about alternative sources of energy generation."
The panels were donated as part of E.ON's Sustainable Energy Solutions business, which helps public and private organisations reduce their carbon footprints.
