STUDENTS were given a taste of fame this month when their designs were showcased at a fashion show held at one of Britain's most famous art galleries.

Over 14 weeks the seven aspiring female designers, who are all 17 or 18 and studying for an art qualification at Harrow College, developed creations with the help of professionals such as dressmakers and make-up artists.

They were among 55 teenagers from across London invited to take part in the Ident Fashion Show held at the Tate Britain in Pimlico, south-west London, on February 5, and organised by the gallery and and the University of the Arts London.

Using recycled materials from ethical sources, the clothes were designed to reflect the Chris Ofili and Tate Britain’s Collection displays.

Student Hana Islam said: "The actual event was amazing! There were two shows, one started at 5.30pm and the other at 8pm.

"The first show was quite emotional as it was the one where my family, friends and teachers came. That was the first time I saw what I had done on stage.

"The second show actually made me cry as many people came to view our work and walking down the runway after the models, made me feel so proud like I had really accomplished something huge."
