Students quizzed a Labour MP on education, global aid and obesity.

Three pupils from Notting Hill and Ealing High School interviewed Andy Slaughter, MP for Hammersmith, last week.

The group called Team Feather asked the shadow justice for minister how he would improve education in Malawi, how UK government aid has helped India and what he thinks of the current obesity crisis.

The team hoped that by interviewing the MP they could raise awareness about these important global issues.

The interview was part of an fundraising award for charity The Wings of Hope.

The winners are given the opportunity to work alongside the charity which strives to provide free secondary education in developing countries such as India and Malawi where over half of children drop out of school before the age of 14.

Team leader Georgia MacPherson said: “We chose to do the project because we greatly value education and would love to have the chance to go to India and work with the charity.”

Team Feather organised a 12-hour skip and a fun run to show encourage people to take up sport and raise awareness of obesity in London.
