Prepare to be accosted in Uxbridge High Street this week - but this time, you could be the one to benefit.

Not charity street collectors but dozens of students from Uxbridge College and Brunel University will be teaming up in the town centre to mark Good Deed Day on Wednesday, November 12.

You could bag something as simple as a new set of beautifully painted nails in the Pavilions shopping centre or having your shopping bags packed for you in Marks and Spencer or Tesco.

But it could be that you need longer lasting help than the 10-minute good deeds the students plan to offer, and there will be plenty of advice and information from the other participants, such as Disablement Association Hillingdon and others who will be at 'Good Deed Day HQ' in the Pavilions.

Priya Pallan, manager of Brunel Volunteers, said: “Good Deed Day is a snapshot of the positive contribution students make to the local community.

"Last year, Brunel students volunteered over 7,800 hours of their time in Hillingdon. University is about personal as well as academic development; student volunteering is a key example of this”

Uxbridge College volunteering manager, Sharon McCann, added: “This also a great opportunity for Uxbridge College students to work in partnership with Brunel students to meet and give something back to the local community.”
