STRICTLY Come Dancing star Camilla Dallerup helped launch international charity Water Aid's awareness campaign at Westfield Shopping Centre.

The dancer and actor husband Kevin Sacre were at the Shepherd's Bush mall to draw attention to a three-dimensional recreation of a dirty watering hole, to kick-start the charity's Big Dig Appeal.

It aims to bring clean, safe water and sanitation to rural communities in Malawi with shoppers able to feel the weight of water typically carried by women and children in the poor African nation.

“Being a dancer, I know how important clean water is to keep you hydrated," said Ms Dallerup. "But millions of people don’t have this luxury at the turn of a tap.

"This dirty water hole is typical of the water source people in Malawi have to use for drinking, cleaning, and feeding their children, because they have no choice. But we can help change this.

“Helping people get access to clean water and toilets doesn’t only improve their health, but also impacts on education and livelihoods. These are simple solutions that make a huge difference, so we’re calling on people to dig deep for Malawi today.”
