Mulan was heavily pregnant when she came into the care of the RSPCA last June. Despite only being one-year-old, this was her second pregnancy.

This gorgeous ginger girl had been living, as a stray, in a garden with her brother. Mulan is affectionate and friendly.

If you would like to home this beautiful cat, who needs to be the only cat in the household, introduce yourself at the RSPCA Cat Adoption Centre, Burket Close, Southall.

Cycling past the RSPCA clinic today, I saw a ferret waiting outside. There was a notice on the door saying that, until further notice, the clinic is closed.

No-one wants a wasted journey, including a sick ferret, so please be aware the Hanwell RSPCA clinic is closed at present.

If you remember, Hanwell Clinic is one of the clinics in danger of permanent closure.

As far as I can ascertain, the current closure, is due to staff shortages and is not permanent. If you have a sick pet and are already registered with Hanwell clinic, contact either Putney Animal Hospital (0300 123 0716) or Southall RSPCA (0300 123 0746).

If you are not already registered and are eligible for RSPCA care, call Southall as Putney is not accepting new clients.

With half-term approaching, here’s three Halloween events to occupy the children. The Adoption Centre at Southall (address above) is holding a Halloween evening on Friday October 30 from 5pm-6.30pm. As well as fancy dress, there will be apple bobbing and pumpkin carving. Bring your own pumpkin.

On Saturday October 31 (11am–3pm), the National Animal Welfare Trust (NAWT) is holding their Halloween Day. There will be crafts and games as well as the opportunity to Search for Pumpkins and Find the Wicked Witches Cauldron. The NAWT rehoming centre is at Tylers Way, Watford-by-pass. (Please park at the Mercure Hotel).

Finally, Battersea Dogs and Cats Home is holding a Scaredy Cats event from Wednesday October 28-Friday October 30 (10.30am-3pm). There will be spooky celebrations in their creepy cattery including cat mask making, quizzes and a fancy dress competition. For older children, there will be a Fright Night on October 30 (4pm-8pm).
