A former cancer patient has rallied football fans to raise money for charity at a tournament.

A team of volunteers went through the crowds collecting donnations in buckets.

Mr Ostrowski , 50, of Cambridge Close in Harmondsworth, said: "It went really well, people donated very generously. I think it is a cause many people are sympathetic to becasue so many people are affected by cancer."

He expained he wants to raise money for The Community Centre for the support they gave to him when he was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2003.

He said: "I went through an awful time,I couldn't eat for eight months and had to be fed through a tube.I wasn't able to work for two years either and the Community Cancer Centre really helped me get back on my feet. I just want to help them now."
