A NORTHOLT shopkeeper reckons he has the best shop in the galaxy - running a Star Wars shop.
Wayne Bower, owner of Jedi-Robe.com and the Star Wars Shop, sells unused toys through his five websites and store in Northolt. He claims to be the only retailer in the world who exclusively sells Star Wars memorabilia.
The 40-year-old was born and bred in Ealing, attending Ealing Green High School (now Ealing and West London College) before going into media and advertising in the City.
Mr Bower has always been a fan of the films but it was a fancy dress party which led to the birth of his business.
He said: “I decided to go to this party as a jedi and absolutely loved it.
“From that moment my ambition was to start an internet retail company and London store based purely on Star Wars.”
The force has proven to be strong in Wayne. After starting in 2009 the business now has an American website, a team of five employees and a warehouse filled with over 10,000 toys, many of which date back to the original Star Wars film almost 35 years ago.
Mr Bower recognised the potentially huge market for merchandise based on one of the top 10 brands in the world, but this was only one of his driving forces.
He said: “Running a business and work generally can be boring. If you are able to add something like Star Wars to the mixture then you sprinkle an element of magic on the day-to-day lives of both yourself and others.
“It enables me to spend more time with my family, although with the recent releases of Star Wars 3D and the Clone Wars I am set to be busier than ever.”
