A two-day bhangra festival, including a competition to find the best bhangra dancer, will take place in Norwood Green next weekend.

Stars of the genre, including Channi Singh , described as the godfather of modern bhangra music, will take to the stage in Norwood Green Park next Sunday, August 24 and the bank holiday Monday.

Children's rides, face-painting, a bouncy castle and a variety of stalls to browse will be among the other attractions at the free fair, running from midday to 6pm each day.

One of the highlights of Bhangra in the Park, organised by Asian Events Media, will be a competition to find the best bhangra dancer, with categories for men, women and under-12s.

Sona Walia, Prince Singh and Raj Sekon are among the other performers lined up to appear at the festival celebrating the distinctive uptempo music style, driven by the beat of the dhol drums.
