Ten new homes are set to be built on the site of a former farm.

Part of Wood Farm, in Wood lane, Stanmore, will be transformed following a decision at a planning committee meeting last night.

The development will see the construction of property on green belt land, which has dismayed local residents and more than 300 people objected to the disposal of the land.

Stanmore Country Park, which sits next to the location will also be extended by 69 acres.

The land has been owned by Harrow Council since 1939 and CP Holdings, a construction company, who hold a long-term lease on the building.

Barry Mitchell, group property manager for CP Holdings, said: "I am pleased with the decision, now the residents of Harrow are able to use part of the site as the country park will be extended.

"It will make more land available to the public."
