I am writing to congratulate Virendra Sharma MP on his courageous decision to resign from the Government in order to fight against the expansion of Heathrow Airport.
He has shown he is prepared to sacrifice his own political ambitions for the good of his constituents and this is to be appauded.
The new third runway, if it is built, will mean many more of Mr Sharma's constituents will have to suffer aircraft noise and pollution, many for the first time. Schools in Southall,
Hanwell, Greenford and Ealing will also experience the same with the attendant health and disrupted learning problems for our children.
I fully back Virendra Sharma's principled stance and hope that the third runway is never built.
