St Anns shopping centre raises £2,500 for St Luke's Hospice

The push-up challenge lasted for six hours, with three teams competing to be crowned the ultimate champions

The teams competed for pushup fame and glory

St Anns Shopping Centre threw down the gauntlet with a colossal test of both mental and physical strength to raise money for a local charity.

On March 14, a team of centre management staff competed against the physical prowess of the personal trainers, from Fitness First in Harrow, to be named victors of a push-up challenge.

A rival team from St George's Shopping Centre also took part in the battle.

The teams were tasked with completing 20,000 push-ups throughout the day, with the first team to do so being crowned ultimate champion.

For six hours the teams endured blood, sweat and tears with St Anns coming out on top. St Georges came in second place with over 19,000 and Fitness First took third place with just over 18,000 push ups.

The push-up challenge was held in aid of St Luke's Hospice, a charity which cares for people with incurable illnesses providing them with the best possible quality of life.

Centre Manager for St Anns, Pieter Strömbeck, said: "The team at St Anns worked and trained incredibly hard in the lead up to the event.

"We are thrilled to announce we raised over £2,500 in total for St Luke’s and we wish to extend a special thanks to our St Anns tenants who donated over £700 in raffle prizes for the event."
