Sports mad youngsters from Harrow seized the chance to try out different games at Wembley Arena on Sunday.

Thousands turned out to enjoy the London Summer of Sport event which had been organised by the London Development Agency.

The day aimed to get youngsters more involved in sport in the lead up to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Young and old lapped up the atmosphere in a sports zone manned by coaches from local clubs.

There was free coaching and demonstrations in a range of different sports including rugby, parkour, basketball, self-defence, hockey and table tennis.

Tom Russell, LDA Group Director of Olympic Legacy, said: "London Summer of Sport gives Londoners the chance to play a sport they may not have tried before. Thousands have already taken part and many of them will carry on participating through local clubs they met at the events."

A further 100 activities will be put on across London in the next six weeks. For more information about what is happening in your area visit www.london.gov.uk/summerof-sport
