SPECIAL school youngsters were rewarded for ‘going the extra mile’ in their educational life.

Special schools across the borough were invited to nominate a pupil for the Queen’s Jubilee Award for Personal Achievement.

The Mayor of Hillingdon, Councillor Michael Markham, handed out trophies in his parlour at the civic centre on Wednesday last week.

Winners included Cameron Hill, of Hedgewood Special School, Hayes, Lucy Kelly, of Grangewood School, Eastcote, and Ty Bourne, of Chantry Special School, Yiewsley.
