Graduates aspiring to take their first step onto the career ladder in engineering, cargo or as analysts still have time to apply with British Airways (BA).

Three of the airlines six schemes are still open to applicants seeking a flying start to their career but time is running out.

Among the current roles filled by graduates who have completed a programme with BA include the director of operations; executive vice president in China; and duty airport manager in New York.

Graduate, Scott Falkiner from Pontefract , said: “I have absolutely loved my time so far on the British Airways engineering programme.

"After a rigorous selection process and a thorough induction into the airline, I have gained valuable experience on a whole range of interesting, relevant projects.

"I would urge any graduates or university students to find out more and seriously consider applying for this brilliant opportunity to get your career off to a flying start!”

The airline offers the potential to deliver multi-million pound projects, analyse the viability of new routes, and the opportunity for global travel.

Daniel Hill, BA’s graduate programme leader, said: “Successful applicants to our graduate scheme need to be skilled, in particular, at relationship building, influencing, commercial awareness and customer service.

"One under-rated trait that we particularly seek is curiosity – we would like to meet graduates who are open to new challenges and keen to learn."
