EALING Southall MP Virendra Sharma got involved in The World’s Biggest Coffee morning last week.

Barclays bank hosted the nationwide event and Mr Sharma travelled to its branch in Southall Broadway last Saturday (September 28) to help raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Customers and local residents all enjoyed some sweet treats for their donations as staff, including Arwah Mahmoud and Anna Arjagopal, baked cakes for everyone.

Lead fundraiser Indy Bhamra was steering the campaign. She is also a regular volunteer having raised hundreds of pounds for other charities as well as volunteering at this year’s Paralympics.

She said: “It’s so great to do something for Macmillan Cancer and with the support of Mr Sharma, we are doing that much better”.

Mr Sharma said: “Today’s coffee morning here at Barclays bank is a great opportunity to help raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Barclays doubling all donations provides Macmillan with tremendous support to help those affected by cancer.

“I have throroughly enjoyed my morning by raising awareness amongst the community as well as helping lend my support to a great cause”.

The Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s flagship fundraising event and raised over £10 million for people affected by cancer in 2011.
