Three youths were arrested after police swooped on the Windmill Park Estate in Southall in a crackdown on gang graffiti.

An 18-year-old, 17-year-old and 13-year old, all male, were charged with numerous counts of criminal damage after officers swooped on about five addresses on the estate at about 7am on Friday.

The estate had been a hot spot for gang slogans in recent weeks, particularly the high-profile tag 'GS187'.

The bust was a joint venture between Safer Neighbourhood Teams, CID and the Borough Support Unit.

Inspector Rob Bryan, head of Southall Police, said: "It went very well. It turned out to be quite a big job.

"This initiative sends out the message we will not tolerate criminal damage.

"We will not tolerate gang graffiti or any behaviour relating to gang activity. We will be hard on any offenders committing crimes of this nature."

All three youths have been bailed until April.
