THE law now says that if someone employs an illegal immigrant (knowing him to be illegal), that person is committing an offence.

The law also says if the same person hires an illegal worker and it can't be proven that the employer knew that person to be illegal, then no offence has been committed.

I broke the speed limit by 5mph on the Great West Road at 2am without another car in sight, for which I was fined and had three points put on my licence.

As it was never proven that I knew I was speeding, have I committed an offence?
