Private members’ club Soho House is in talks to open a boutique hotel on the former site of the BBC Television Centre.

The exclusive club for creative professionals said developer Stanhope pitched the idea to be involved in the redevelopment of the iconic 1960s building in Wood Lane, White City.

The developer bought the 14-acre site last year for £200 million and has plans to transform the area with 1,000 new homes, a cinema, health club, restaurants and cafes with access through to Hammersmith Park.

A boutique 50-room hotel could be created within the existing inner ring of the former BBC studios.

This is the first big name to show an interest in the redevelopment, which is expected to be considered by Hammersmith and Fulham Council’s planning committee by the end of the year.

A spokeswoman for Soho House said: “This is just one of many opportunities that are regularly pitched to us by property companies.

“At this stage, we haven’t made a decision whether this is a site we intend to explore further.”

Soho House was founded in London in 1995 and has famous branches in Miami and New York, with membership starting at £600 a year.

Stanhope said it was unable to comment.
