POLICE are warning people in Ealing to be on their guard as a doorstep fraudster is doing the rounds.

The borough’s Integrated Offender Management Team has released a photo of a man committing crime in the borough and is asking for help from communities in finding him and bringing him to justice.

Anil Sangha has been routinely knocking on doors, convincing members of the public to hand over cash in the region of £25.

Officers said Sangha usually targets the most vulnerable people and portrays a distressing story of a family emergency in which he needs to get a taxi or informs the unsuspecting occupier that he has recently moved to the area and has locked himself out of the house.

He tells people that he needs to pay a locksmith and once back in his property will return the money to the person in question.

But he never returns any money and instead moves on to the next address to target another victim.

Police said Sangha is also subject to an anti-social behaviour order prohibiting him from calling at any residential premises without the prior permission of the occupier or requesting money from the public. This order is in place till November 1 2017.

Detective Sergeant Russell Wren from the borough’s prolific offending team said: “We are concerned about the numbers of crimes that are being committed by this individual, despite intervention and support he continues to target elderly and vulnerable people, making benefit on the good nature of Ealing’s communities.”

If you have had any dealings with this man or if he has visited your home, please contact the Ealing IOM Team on 07770702343 or send them an e-mail: PPOUnit-XB@met.pnn.police.uk
