Slumdog Millionaire starring Harrow actor Dev Patel has won another gong, winning the oustanding performance by a cast award at the 15 th Screen Actors Guild Awards.
The former Whitmore High School pupil from Rayners Lane, collected the ensemble award on behalf of the cast of the hit film, directed by Danny Boyle. He was joined on stage by co-stars Anil Kapoor, the veteran Bollywood actor, and Freida Pinto, at a star-studded ceremony in Los Angeles last night.
The 18-year-old, who made a name for himself starring in E4’s cult show Skins, plays the part of a Mumbai street boy who ends up on an Asian version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire in the film directed by Danny Boyle.
The award was the second industry prize for the film, which last week received 10 Oscar nominations, in 24 hours after it won at the Producers Guild of America Awards on Saturday. Earlier this month Slumdog won four Golden Globes.
Slumdog is now in pole position for Oscar success, with bookmakers and commentators increasingly seeing it as the favourite for best picture.
