Sizzling Hayes Carnival for festival lovers

THE glorious weather ensured a sizzling Hayes Carnival as hundreds joined this year’s party.

Families lined the parade route on Saturday afternoon, from Pump Lane, along Botwell Lane and ending at Barra Hall Circus, to catch a glimpse of the dazzling carnival costumes, drummers, and walking floats blaring upbeat sounds.

The Mayor of Hillingdon, Councillor Allan Kauffman, wore his ceremonial robe despite the sky-high temperatures, and joined in with the scantily clad samba dancers leading the parade.

The revelry continued in Barra Hall Park, with all four corners hosting excellent attractions on the theme I Love Hayes.

Live acts on the main stage, sponsored by The Old Vinyl Factory, included tribute band All You Need is The Beatles, the Ziriguidum Samba band, and a community choir of more than 200 schoolchildren.

There were also dedicated zones boasting a full military-style assault course provided by the Veteran’s Charity, shows for younger children, and environmentally friendly activities set up by Transition Heathrow, the grassroots group behind the Grow Heathrow community garden in Sipson.
