A driver has taken a swipe at parking chiefs after winning her six-month battle to overturn a wrongly-issued fine.

Jackie Escoffery had nearly an hour left on the meter when she saw a traffic warden issuing a ticket in the car park opposite ASDA's Hounslow store on August 10 last year.

The 53-year-old, of Ferney Meade Way, Isleworth, says the warden initially missed the ticket in the front windscreen of her Toyota due to the glare of the sun.

When she pointed it out to him she says he agreed the charge had been wrongly issued but she would have to appeal to Hounslow Council to get it overturned.

However, the council rejected her appeal despite the time on her ticket clearing being before that at which the fine was issued.

She took her complaint to the Parking and Traffic Appeals Service (PATAS), eventually winning her case on February 4, but says it should never have taken that long.

"This dragged on for six months despite my showing the council clear proof I had a valid ticket," said the mother-of-one.

"I've had this hanging over me all that time and I had to take half a day off work, losing income, to attend the tribunal hearing. This has caused me a lot of stress and I'm not happy with how it's been handled."

A council spokesman said: "Our officers have reviewed this case and, and are satisfied it was dealt with as quickly as possible."
