SIX people were injured after a police car on an emergency call smashed into another vehicle at a 'danger' junction in Shepherd's Bush.

The Panda collided with a Honda Civic at the crossroads on the junction of Askew Road and Uxbridge Road. Four officers and two people in the Honda were hurt, both of whom went to hospital with minor injuries. Two of the officers, who were female, also needed treatment.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident, which happened at about 7.50pm and resulted in the road being shut for several hours, with buses being diverted.

Passers-by described the scene on Twitter. ChantelleEJ said: "Terrible car accident on uxbridge road. Strangely quiet and all buses are unable to move," while GenesisHeel wrote: "Huge accident on Uxbridge Road/Askew Road junction. 10 police cars 3 fire engines on scene."

Others said the junction is known as an accident black spot. Will Da Force said on the social networking site that he had written to the council last year highlighting the danger, while another Twitter user said the junction was a confusing mix of bus stops, bus lanes and filter lanes.

Police are urging people who saw the accident to call 101.
