The key reason for having your pet microchipped is to help you get it back if it gets lost.

Can you imagine losing your pet, but not getting it back because, although it is microchipped, nobody scans it?

That is just what happened to Debbie Matthews - Sir Bruce Forsyth's daughter - when she lost her two dogs.

Even though they were microchipped, Debbie had difficulty getting them back because of a lack of routine scanning.

To prevent this happening to others, Debbie, supported by her father, has organised a Vets Get Scanning Appeal asking parliament for a tightening up of the microchip scanning regulations so that, amongst other changes, vets must scan for a microchip and check the database registration on a dog’s first visit to them.

To support this campaign, visit vetsgetscanning.co.uk and sign the petition before March 30.
