A GRANDMOTHER who was shot at twice in her doorway has told how she is ‘not scared’.

The 69-year-old, who wishes to remain anonymous, opened the door of her home in Logan Close, Hounslow, on Monday evening, at about 8.50pm, to find what appeared to be a shotgun pointing at her.

Two shots were fired, with both bullets missing the grandmother-of-four but one dislodging a fragment of the wooden floor which grazed her left leg.

She believes the shooting was a case of mistaken identity and says her attacker looked as shocked to find her answering the doorbell as she was at seeing the gun.

“I saw the gun and immediately banged the door shut and shouted ‘aagghh’, but two shots were fired,” said the former British Airways caterer. She added: “He looked shocked to see me but If I hadn’t shut the door so quickly I could have been shot.

“I’ve lived here for 32 years and we’ve never had any trouble around here before.

“I’m not scared at all. I don’t scare easily because I spent five years in the NAFI (Navy, Army and Air Force Institute) in (the former British colony in Yemen) Aden.”

Neighbours on the quiet estate, beside St Michael & St Martin Catholic Primary School, spoke of their shock at the shooting.

One woman, who asked not to be named, said: “It’s like something out of the Wild West. We’re worried because it could have been any one of us.”

Niaz Faiz, a 41-year-old civil servant, said he had lived in the road for 10 years and had never experienced any major problems.

“I was surprised and a bit shocked to hear about the shooting. I’ve got two children, so obviously they’re my principle concern,” he added.

Officers from the Met Police’s Trident Gang Crime Command are investigating the shooting and no arrests had been made as the Chronicle went to press. The suspect is described as a black man.
