Shooting is set to begin on a fantasy crime thriller set in Hounslow, after producers hit their target on the crowd-funding site Kickstarter.

The makers of Hound raised more than £4,100 in a matter of weeks - smashing their £3,500 goal - after offering backers perks including the chance to appear as extras in the feature length film.

They will use the money to pay for recording equipment and stunt gear so they can begin filming in the new year.

More than 50 backers leapt at the chance to help make the film a reality, including seven who earned the right to play extras by pledging £100 or more.

Hound, which will be the first production by Totem Films, tells the tale of a loner who dons a canine mask as he sets out to exact retribution on the gang which killed his beloved pet.

It will be shot in and around Hounslow West, where director Simba Masaku, who also plays one of the villains, lives.

The makers have already produced a trailer for the film and hope to wrap up shooting by the end of February, before holding a premiere screening at Watermans arts centre in Brentford.

Mr Masaku said: "We've been amazed by the support from the people of Hounslow and we're really excited to begin shooting."
