A DRIVER had to be cut out of his car following a smash on the blind corner of a side road in Shepherd's Bush.

The man, who was around 30 years old, was behind the wheel of a silver BMW which collided with a green Range Rover Discovery in Keith Grove, just off Uxbridge Road.

Firefighters from Hammersmith cut the roof off the car to release the driver, who was taken taken to hospital on a spinal board following the accident at 9pm on Tuesday.

Crew manager Ned Robinson said: "We extracted him from the car using the jaws of life. He was complaining of severe back pain and pins and needles in his left arm, which is a sign of spinal damage. He was breathing and conscious and didn't appear seriously injured."

The driver of the Range Rover was unhurt.
