A TRAIN passenger was jailed for four and a half months after indecently exposing himself to a woman on a Central Line train.

David Eady, 27, of Long Drive, South Hayes, was jailed at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court last Friday after exposing himself on October 27 last year.

He has also been placed on the Sex Offenders Register for seven years and a five-year Sexual Offenders Prevention Order was imposed on him.

As the train travelled between the two stations at about 1.45pm, Eady exposed himself to a female passenger, who immediately moved down the carriage away from him before getting off the train .

PC Adam Whitton, one of the investigating officers, said: "The victim immediately ran outside, reported the crime in a nearby pub and British Transport Police (BTP) officers were called, but Eady had already left the station.

"CCTVnot only placed Eady at the scene of the crime but allowed us to get clear facial images of him.

"The images were circulated on police intelligence systems, after which he was recognised, identified and then arrested in January.

"I would like to pass my thanks to the victim and witnesses who came forward to provide statements because with their help it was possible for us to quickly identify Eady as the offender.

"Everyone has the right to travel on the Tube and go about their business without being subjected to this sort of assault, and I hope that the four-and-a-half-month prison sentence and five-year prevention order handed down to Eady sends out a clear message that this type of crime will simply not be tolerated by BTP or the courts."
