Schoolchildren cut the ribbon at Brentford's iconic Homebase store following a major refurbishment.
Pupils from St Richard Reynold's Catholic College in Twickenham performed the honours at the official re-opening of the DIY and homeware outlet on Saturday (January 3). They were rewarded by the shop with vouchers for themselves and a cheque for their school.
The store, on the corner of Syon Lane and the A4 Great West Road, has been extended and now also features an Argos, a Lots of Living and a Habitat under the same roof.
The store reopened for business in the middle of December, with customers offered a 25 per cent discount that day, but Saturday was its official unveiling.
Nowell Anderson, who is a governor at the college, said he hoped the pupils' involvement would mark the beginning of a close bond between the school and Homebase, giving students a valuable insight into the world of business.
