Fraudsters are targeting vulnerable people by writing to them saying they have been left a large amount of cash by a dead relative.

A PCSO from the Hillingdon East Local Poilce Team said: "As far as we know at least two scam letters have been sent to addresses in the Hillingdon area; Windsor Avenue and Richmond Avenue.

"Both recipients of these letters are elderly. Both letters state they are being contacted from a gentleman call Ted Cheung, Business relations manager from China Construction Bank in Hong Kong. They have been advised that a person with the same name as them has deceased and left a large amount of money behind and they would like to help them receive this money, which they believe could belong to them.

"They have not asked for any further information from the recipients at this stage. All they have requested from them is to get in contact with them via an email address provided which is  tedcheung777@yahoo.com . The letter has asked for the recipient to keep the contents of this letter private and not tell anyone about it. "

Anyone who receives letters of this nature should contact 101 and report it to the police.

In February, Home Instead Senior Care, in Eastcote, launched a campaign to prevent elderly people falling victim to scammers.
