Passengers had a near miss after scaffolding came crashing down on a double-decker bus.

Wooden slats and poles erected on the side of a building fell onto the Route 414 bus as it turned into Gonville Street, Fulham, near Putney Bridge Underground station at around 1.25pm today (Nov 26).

The Health and Safety Executive is investigating the incident, which fortunately left nobody injured.

Ken Davidson, Transport for London’s head of bus operations, said: “There are no reported injuries.

“The Health and Safety Executive are currently assessed the safe removal of the bus and scaffolding until which time the road remained closed.

“There will be an investigation into this incident.”

Gonville Street, Fulham was taped off after the incident

Passerby Jessica Bull, who took these photographs, said: “It was actually just round the corner from my office in Fulham Green. I didn’t see it happen but it happened in the 30 minutes I was out of the office for my lunch break. The route back to work was all taped off, they blocked the whole road off.”

Riverbank House confirmed that the scaffolding was erected outside its office block in Gonville Street. They declined to comment on the incident.
