Dancers representing Hillingdon in London's New Year's Day Parade scooped third prize for their performance.
More than 40 members of the dance and performing arts agency JAM2000 danced their way from Piccadilly to Parliament Square on Thursday (January 1).
Wearing elaborate costumes and holding signs marking the borough’s underground stations, they danced alongside a London bus-shaped float in the parade, which was themed ‘London on the move’ and celebrated the capital’s transport network.
Hillingdon Council was one of 14 London authorities to enter a float to compete for a cash prize.
The performers from the agency in Pembroke Road, Ruislip, who had spent months rehearsing, designing costumes and making the float, won £5,000 for the mayor of Hillingdon's chosen charity, Michael Sobell Hospice in Northwood.
Hillingdon mayor Councillor Catherine Dann said: “The parade is a great way to start the New Year and help raise money for a very worthy cause. I would like to thank everyone who took part. A lot of hard work went into creating such a visually stunning float for Hillingdon."
The float was sponsored by National House Building Council, Howard Tenens West London Transport, Bellway Homes, Redway Homes, Hill Partnerships Ltd, St George West London Ltd, J Reddington Ltd, Empee Silk Fabrics Ltd and Gibbs Gillepsie estate agents.
