A Ruislip family have organised a fundraiser close to their hearts, in loving memory of a son and brother.

Lorraine Bradbury, along with help from friends, will hold a family fun day on Saturday (August 8) at Wealdstone FC.

2015 marks the year her son, Paul Speck Jnr, would have celebrated his 21st birthday.

Paul was just seven-years-old when he died of a brain stem tumour.

The venue was chosen as Junior's wake was held there. The football club have allowed Ms Bradbury to use the field, hall and bar for the event.

Ms Bradbury chose the Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) to raise money for, after the care and support they gave her family during a very difficult time in their life.

She said: “It's for his 21st as my other kids all got cars and big items but he’s not here. So we’ll give Great Ormond Street what we were going to give him.

“Jnr’s the only person I’ve ever lost and GOSH is the only hospital I’ve ever had dealings with. They were very good to me, they let me stay and brought me food. They’d call me if I had to go home. I’ve paid the charity every month regardless."

Ms Bradbury wants this chance to "thank" Great Ormond Street, a charity-run hospital.

She added: “The hospital nursed him, he was there for a long time with all the tests that they did on him, but sadly he was too far gone. He was there for four months in total. I just think that other children deserve a chance.”

The fundraiser will run from 12noon-6.30pm, with a bouncy castle, BBQ meals, a DJ, face-painting, a nail bar and even waxing!

People who attend the fundraiser are simply asked to donate what they can afford and all proceeds go to charity.
