They say every cloud has a silver lining, and Romania star Florin Surugiu got over his team's Rugby World Cup loss to Ireland in style.

Following their 44-10 defeat in front of a tournament record 89,217 fans at Wembley Stadium, the Romanian side went on a lap of honour, only for Surugiu to break off and make his way to his girlfriend, Alexandria, who was now pitchside.

The scrum-half went down on one knee and proposed in front of his team-mates and the thousands of fans who were still in the stadium.

Luckily for Surugiu, who plays for Bucuresti Wolves, Alexandria said 'yes' and the Romania team, plus the spectators left in the stadium, all broke into applause.

Romania coach Lynn Howells was asked how he felt about one of his players proposing on the pitch, but with a wry smile on his face, said: "I tried to tell him not to."
