A man who smashed windows of two homes and behaved in a rowdy manner has been banned from entering a Northolt estate for a year.
Ealing Council’s safer communities team obtained an emergency injunction banning 61-year-old Christopher Slattery, of no fixed address, from entering Smiths Farm Estate, within 48 hours of him being seen causing criminal damage and subjecting residents to verbal abuse and intimidation last month (November).
Slattery, who regularly visited friends on the estate but was not a resident, was witnessed by a caretaker smashing the windows and being rowdy.
The incident was immediately reported to police and the estate manager, followed by the safer communities team.
The injunction was upheld during a full hearing at Brentford County Court on December 12 and remains in force until November 2015, preventing Slattery from returning to the estate or engaging in any behaviour likely to cause nuisance to anyone living there.
People on the estate had previously been affected by his drunken and abusive behaviour but no one had reported him as they were too intimidated and did not know what powers existed to support them.
Councillor Ranjit Dheer, cabinet member for community services and safety, said: “Our residents have every right to feel safe and secure in their homes, and the council will take prompt action to deal with anyone who commits criminal or anti-social acts which prevent them from doing so. I am pleased by the speed and severity with which the offender has been dealt with in this case, and urge residents to report any similar incidents without fail.”
