Six fire engines and 35 firefighters and officers tackled a fire at a row of cottages in West Drayton last night, Thursday, July 31.

Five homes were damaged in the blaze in Sipson Road. Half of the roof of the first cottage was damaged by fire, the entire first floor and roof of the second and half of the roof of the third property were also destroyed by the flames.

Part of a room at the fourth property and part of the roof at the fifth property were also damaged.

A man and woman left one of the homes before the London Fire Brigade arrived just after 9pm.

Both were taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service.

The fire was brought under control just after 11pm with fire engines from Hayes, Heathrow, Feltham, Hillingdon and Heston fire stations on the scene.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.

It is the second time this week firefighters have had to put flames out in West Drayton, a flat in Park Lodge Avenue was destoryed in a blaze on Monday, July 28 (pictured).

A second fire in Harefield Road, Uxbridge broke out hours later on Monday, July 28, as well as the fire brigade being called to help out when flash floods hit Hillingdon.
