A rooftop playground has been officially opened above a Bayswater primary school.
The £100,000 playground at St Stephen's Primary School, in Westbourne Park Road, was opened by former Chelsea footballer Paul Canoville yesterday.
It sits above a 60 ft building and is surrounded by a 3ft wall and a 15ft fence.
Pupils will also be able to enjoy classes outside after money is raised to install a gazebo, a water feature, and a garden with a flower bed and vegetable patch.
Headteacher Paul Voural said: "We've transformed what was previously an unused area into an inspirational space for play and a resource that will enhance all pupils' learning experience.Space is at a premium in the heart of London and all the children are extremely excited. This will make a real difference to the range of activities on offer."
The playground has been fitted with floodlights, so it can be used on winter evenings.
The school also has plans to open up the sporting facilities to the community.
