A ROBBER is targeting betting shops in Wembley for large amounts of cash.

Police are appealing for witnesses following two incidents in Wembley, which are being linked.

An attempted robbery took place at a betting shop in Blackbird Hill, Kingsbury at 3.30pm on Monday February 3.

The suspect entered the store and threatened staff with a knife before leaving empty handed and no one was injured.

The second incident happened two hours later at a betting shop in Grand Parade, Forty Lane, Wembley.

A man entered the premises and handed a member of staff a note demanding money.

The suspect was holding a black plastic bag and intimated that there was a weapon in it,  but no weapon was seen.

A member of staff handed over a quantity of cash before the suspect left the premises without anyone being injured.

So far no arrests have been made.

The suspect is described a white man who is between 40 and 45 years of age.

He is between five foot five inches and five foot eight inches and is of stocky build.

The man was wearing a dark, hooded, combat style jacket, light, grey jogging bottoms and white trainers.

Detectives from the Flying Squad are investigating and are linking both incidents.
