I amsure your readers will share my delight that Brent's streets are officially among the cleanest in London now that Brent Council is led by the Liberal Democrats.
According to new independent figures, the streets are far cleaner than they ever were when Labour ran the council.
The result means the inspectors found no litter, detritus (stones, grit, and dirt), graffiti and fly-posting in 87 per cent of roads and pavements.
That number is a big increase on the figure for 2007/8, which was itself an impressive improvement in performance on the previous year.
Brent Council has now chalked up a stunning rise of more than 20 per cent in street cleanliness since April 2007.
Under the old Labour regime, our streets were worse than average. Our borough's streets were ranked 17th in London.
As a result of our actions, we have soared into the top four.
The huge improvement shows how right we were to invest an extra £2.1million a year in first-class street cleaning and recycling services from April 2007.
