WITH regard to the article last week, 'Tax cuts will hit vulnerable', tenants are justifiably alarmed at Hammersmith and Fulham's intention to develop large estates in our borough in collaboration with private developers.

The council appears to see our housing estates as private development opportunities, and the people living there as an inconvenience to be got rid of.

The council's claim 'to guarantee a home in the area to anyone who lives in an estate earmarked for redevelopment' is astonishingly dishonest. Even if practicable, such guarantees are surely unenforceable.

The Conservative-controlled administration at Hammersmith Town Hall are stewards of our borough, not absolute owners of our heritage. A right to a home life is a human right and must not be treated lightly. That right is not upheld if thousands of tenants and leaseholders living in our estates are to be condemned to live in fear and jeopardy of eviction in the future.
