Worried residents have called for speed cameras to be installed in a busy Ickenham road after a car smashed into three houses.

All three emergency services were called to the scene of the accident in Swakeleys Road, Ickenham, on Sunday at 3.30am, after a car ploughed through three front gardens, damaging fences, hedges, and houses in the process.

Karen Coombes, 41, who runs the Village Barber Shop in Ickenham, had the front of her house damaged by the car, and may have to move out while it is repaired.

She said: "My house took the brunt of it. It hit my front door and bay window.

"It's horrendous, everywhere is covered in glass.

"I would like to see some signs up along the road reminding people that it is 30mph.

"It is amazing how many people don't know, considering school children cross the road and it's a residential area. Cars go way too fast here."

Sandra Utterson, who also lives in one of the houses affected by the accident, said: "People drive so quickly down the road and swerve around the corner and then are unable to slow down or stop."

Police are investigating the crash in which a man was taken to hospital. No arrests have been made.
