ANGRY residents staged a protest outside their much-loved community centre after the council suggested it should be shut down.
In a 44-page review of properties owned by Ealing Council, officers described Northolt Village Community Centre, in Ealing Road, as 'under-utilised' and say it has a 'higher alternative-use value'.
Members of the Northolt Village Residents' Association, who use the centre for meetings, were stunned the council could hold such a dim view of the centre, which hosts more than 30 regular groups and is almost always fully booked.
The report also casts doubt over the future of Northolt Grange Community Centre, suggests Islip Manor Community Centre should relocate to the Northolt Leisure Centre and Greenford Library should move to 'a more prominent position' despite having had a £2million refurbishment two years ago.
The council says the review is aimed at getting rid of unsuitable buildings and services will not be affected.
