PEOPLE of Hounslow are being urged to report any neglect or abuse of older people as the council lends its support to World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on Monday.

The council's lead member for adult social services and health, Councillor Pamela Fisher, said: "Elder abuse is more widespread than most people think.

"It can affect older men and women from all social backgrounds, occurring mostly at home. This day is about all of us working together to bring greater recognition of the mistreatment of older adults and to highlight the need for appropriate action."

If you are concerned for someone, please call Hounslow’s Safeguarding Adults Co-ordinators on (020) 8583 4515, or the Police Community Safety Unit on (020) 8721 9104, or contact Hounslow's Customer Service Officers on 020 8583 3100 in Social Services.
