Regarding the report that certain clinics are falling short of the targets imposed by the Harrow Primary Care Trust, the Savita Medical Centre in particular.

We live in a world beset by targets, which inevitably create a blinkered outlook on those who impose them.

Why did they fall short of their target?

Such questions are never asked and, that being the case, nothing positive is done to remedy the problem.

The reason is that there was no nurse available at the Savita Medical Centre and the doctor had his own patients to attend to.

Maybe the people who set these targets should be trying to help with the situation instead of criticising.

I believe it used to be call initiative.
