A glowing report with top marks were awarded to an 18-month-old free school in Feltham in its first Ofsted inspection.

Reach Academy Feltham is the first all-through free school to achieve an 'outstanding' status in all four key inspection areas by the education watchdog.

The school has been temporarily housed at Bridge House on Hanworth Road and is due to move to its new permanent home on the High Street opposite Tesco in September this year.

Principal Ed Vainker proudly praised the hard work of teachers, students and their parents. He said: "The whole school community is absolutely ecstatic about this result.

"I would like to pay tribute to all of the hard work, dedication and skill shown by our staff team over the past 18 months.

"The support from our pupils and their families has been exceptional."

The report judged the school was outstanding in each category; achievement of pupils, the quality of teaching, the behaviour and safety of pupils and leadership and management.

Inspectors Peter Humphries and Richard Boswell were clearly impressed with the running of the school where 'pupils learn and thrive' in a 'positive learning atmosphere.'

Other comments included pupils making 'excellent progress in reading, writing and mathematics', and above average achievements 'in all year groups', as a result of 'exceptional teaching pupils receive'.

The principal's leadership and governing body were also commended.

Schools minister Lord Nash said: “I congratulate staff and pupils at Reach Academy on the publication of their first Ofsted report.

"Achieving this outstanding rating in only their second year of opening is a fantastic achievement and all down to the exceptional hard work and determination of the teachers and pupils at the school.

"I am particularly impressed by the glowing comments Ofsted has made about the excellent progress that pupils make in reading, writing and maths, as well as pupils’ impeccable behaviour, attendance and punctuality.

“This school is an excellent example of how the free school programme is offering pupils and parents a high standard of education in Feltham, West London and right across the country.”

When the school moves in the autumn it will include a nursery, sports hall and space for 900 children.
